Don't Gut Seattle Channel

Don't Gut Seattle Channel
The Issue
The undersigned care about civic programming and respectfully demand the malicious, vicious cuts to Seattle Channel are reversed. Programs like “City Inside/Out” and “Art Zone” do not just add value and interest to Seattle politics and culture but position Seattle as a statewide leader. Seattle Channel is an emerald in the region, key for long-form news gathering and sharing at a time of corporate sound byte journalism devoid of critical details.
In the land that trained Heather "Newsbrooke" Brooke, Ph.D. this is a moral outrage. For it was Newsbrooke who once wrote;
"The press is not like any other business and what it sells shouldn't just be rehashed press releases or celebrity gossip, but the civic information necessary for people to understand their society and participate in it. It is a check on political and financial power, or at least it should be."
The undersigned hereby consider the proposed cuts to Seattle Channel as an attack on our civic democracy. Please restore Seattle Channel to full funding.
