Don't Dump Data on Peculiar!

Don't Dump Data on Peculiar!
The Issue
We, the residents of Peculiar, MO, USA, are deeply concerned about the proposed construction of the Harper Road Technology Park, which threatens to convert over 508 acres of our land into a large data campus.
This project raises serious health and environmental issues including noise and light pollution, potential devaluation of local properties, undue strain on our utilities, and only a meager promise of job creation. All these detrimental impacts significantly outweigh the potential benefits of this development. Our rich local environment could be irreversibly harmed, affecting not just us but future generations to come.
Moreover, data centers typically use a vast amount of water for cooling purposes. In a location like Missouri, which experienced significant droughts in 2012 and 2018, this could potentially exacerbate local water shortages. Plus, there's an alarmingly high risk of hazardous chemical leakage involved with these data centers that could further compromise our soil and groundwater.
By signing this petition, we call upon our representatives to look at these issues critically and to consider alternative options for economic growth that preserve our community's health, environment, and overall well-being. Join us now to protect Peculiar and ensure a healthier, safer future for the next generations. Please sign this petition to halt the proposed construction of Harper Road Technology Park.
