For many, this trilogy was their first superhero experience - a world where passion, hardship, and heroism intertwined on the big screen.

However, a troubling rumor is circulating amongst the fan community. It's suggested that in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, the universe from the beloved Sam Raimi's trilogy may meet its demise. Worse still, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man himself might face an end that fans fear to even fathom. While many acknowledge that the history of Spider-Man has branched into various timelines and interpretations, and that this specific universe may be unlikely to be revisited in the future, Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man still remains deeply revered by countless fans.

For many fans this is not simply about whether Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man himself survives. The fate of the entire universe surrounding him matters just as much. The characters who inhabited this world - even supporting characters and other figures who became meaningful parts of people's childhoods - are also deeply cherished. For many viewers, characters such as Mary Jane Watson, Aunt May, J. Jonah Jameson and others are not merely supporting roles; they are an important part of the world they grew up with. Losing the entire universe that this version of Spider-Man fought for saving would mean losing the possibility of these characters ever having a future of their own even if we won't see it.

Through three films, Peter Parker endured loss, sacrifice, hard choices and battles against powerful enemies - always putting his life on the line to protect the people and the city he loved. He fought so that this world could survive and its people could have a future. To see everything he fought for simply erased in a single film would feel deeply unfair. After everything Spider-Man went through to protect his universe, it would be heartbreaking to see that same universe taken away almost as an afterthought in another story.

Destroying this universe would disregard the emotional ties that countless fans have to it. Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker is more than just a character - he is an iconic figure who helped define the superhero genre of the early 2000s. But his importance cannot be separated from the world around him. The universe of Raimi's Spider-Man is a whole collection of characters, stories, relationships, and memories that fans have grown attached to over the years. This universe contributed to the popularity of comic book movies and showed many of us that everyone, no matter how ordinary, could become extraordinary.

We understand that studios and filmmakers must evolve narratives and explore new creative directions. However, doing so should not come at the cost of annihilating a deeply cherished part of Spider-Man's legacy. Instead, why not preserve this universe and continue to honor its significance? Giving this universe a respectful and hopeful ending - or even leaving the door open to possibly revisit it someday - could honor both its legacy and its importance to fans around the world.

It's understandable that any petition would unlikely change anything about this, but, well,  at least it's good to openly share the opinion that destroying Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man universe in "Avengers: Doomsday" is an unfrair decision.
