Hi everyone - we want to thank you for your support of keeping this valuable lifeline for the Irish in Britain - we know that many of you are signing on behalf of those who aren't online.
You might be interested in this feature on the long wave by the good folks over at radioland.ie. - We spoke to the campaigners fighting to save Longwave 252.
We would like to propose a few more action steps!
- There is a "Tweet Storm" planned on Twitter TODAY at 6:30 Irish/British Time. We encourage you to tweet your support of this petition and in favor of the postponement of this move
- Use the hashtag #saveLW252
- Direct tweets at @Deeforbes_dd, @cathmartingreeen, @eamonryan and @irishinbritain
- Tell them why it's important to keep the longwave until the DAB+ service as recommended by the consultative group is set upt.
- (It would be great to do it at 6:30, but anytime you can would also be helpful!)
2. Write to the following to give your support of postponing the move until after RTE starts broadcasting on DAB+ in Britain, in keeping with the recommendations from the Consultative Group on the future of longwave: - Catherine Martin, Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media at catherine.martin@oireachtas.ie
- Brian Dalton of Irish in Britain - bdalton@irishinbritain.org
- Dee Forbes, Director-General of RTE - dee.forbes@rte.ie
- Siún Ní Raghallaigh - Chair of the RTE board - info@rte.ie
