Don’t Cut Head Start Funding — Invest in Our Children's Future

Don’t Cut Head Start Funding — Invest in Our Children's Future
The Issue
Update October 24, 2025:
Head Start programs across the nation are at risk of closure due to the ongoing federal government shutdown and the delay in funding approval. The current fiscal year ends on October 31, 2025. Thankfully, my school district has approved a partnership with Head Start through the end of the year, even without guaranteed reimbursement. Unfortunately, many other programs will be forced to close unless federal funding is approved soon.
Early childhood education is essential for every child, regardless of income. Please share this message and help raise awareness.
To help raise awareness, I’ve shared the link to my recent interview with an Associated Press reporter discussing how the shutdown affects Head Start programs. Please watch and share the video. Thank you, Christina Middleton
..............................................
Early Head Start and Head Start programs are critical to the development of young children and their families, especially those from lower-income backgrounds. These programs provide much-needed educational support, health services, and resources that help children achieve their full potential.
However, the Trump administration has proposed cuts to funding for the National Head Start Association, which could devastate these life-changing programs.
As a parent who has personally benefited from Head Start, I can vouch for the meaningful impact these services have had on my children and our family. From speech therapy to developmental milestones, Early Head Start and Head Start have helped my daughters grow and thrive, while also providing our family with essential resources and advocacy. I cannot imagine a future where other children and families are denied the opportunity to benefit from these programs.
We cannot afford to lose these invaluable services. Early education is a necessity, not a luxury. Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their income level. We need our legislators and the government to protect these programs and ensure that future generations of children have the same opportunities to succeed.
Call to Action:
I urge all policymakers to protect and fully fund Early Head Start and Head Start programs. These programs are essential to the success of our children, families and society.
Please sign this petition to show your support for Head Start programs and urge government leaders to protect these programs for all families.
Why This Matters:
Early Education Matters: Research has shown that the first few years of a child’s life are critical to their long-term success. Head Start and Early Head Start programs provide children with the foundation they need to succeed in school and life.
Community Impact: These programs don’t just benefit children, they support families by offering access to health services, nutrition, and educational resources. For many families, these programs are the only support to getting the help they need.
A Better Future for All: Investing in early education means investing in the future of this country. Our children are our future, and they deserve the best possible start in life.
