A month ago, we — KU parents past and present, educators, KU leadership, and community representatives — stood before Willoughby Council’s Public and Open Forum. We spoke with one voice: KU Chatswood is not just a service, it is a vital part of our children’s education and our community’s fabric. The decision to evict it was a devastating blow — 110 families left without places, and a generation of children denied the same start we all believed in.
This week, Councillors debated a motion to investigate the suitability of 28–32 Devonshire Street Chatswood, along with other Council properties, for a preschool. The result was almost unanimous in support. It’s not the finish line, but it is a real step forward toward restoring a community preschool in Chatswood.
It’s been three long months since we first learned of KU’s eviction. Every email to Councillors, every signature on the petition, every conversation with neighbours and every show of support for KU’s incredible educators has helped us get here. Thank you — and please stay with us. Together we’re making progress.
