AI images are everywhere, there is no escape. You think you would be safe buying christmas card to support your local charity, but no. Even that is now AI generated. 

AI is taking away vital resources from our planet, contributing to climate change and stealing peoples jobs. There is no reason to support or use it, and it should definitely not be being used on products.

The case study I'm focusing on here is AI generated christmas cards in charity shops, but the issue applies to everywhere you might be buying something. Most people take great pride in choosing their cards each year, and choosing a charity to support that is meaningful to them. This year it's a treasure hunt for a card actually designed by a human.

Imagine receiving an AI generated card in the post, bought, written and posted with care from a friend or relative who might no have known better. Not everyone can recognise AI, and these companies seem to be exploiting that, especially when there is no labeling that gen AI has been used. 

It shouldn't be hard to turn over a product and read 'designed by' on the back of it. We should not have be scrutinising artwork to work out if it was human or robot. This takes away from real artists, whose work is being questioned as to its integrity, while AI goes on stealing our original designs.

There is no need for gen AI on products. There is no use of it. There is no support for it. Please stop. We've gone thousands of years making things with our own hands and our own minds, and we have supported each other in the process. We can continue.

Please sign the petition and share it, but even more importantly call out gen AI when you see it! Tell people, contact the brand, boycott them. This doesn't have to be the future.
