We wanted to share a brief but important update on the Quarterlands development we have been fighting and our ongoing campaign to protect the Lagan Valley.
Thanks to continued pressure and your support, we’ve had another small win:
At the latest Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council meeting on the 24th June, seven councillors supported our concerns about the flawed Section 76 agreement linked to the Quarterlands housing proposal. As a result, the development has been sent back to the Planning Committee for further scrutiny. (see more details on the website quarterlands.com/qblog)
It’s not over — but it’s a step in the right direction.
This outcome shows that our voices are being heard. After three years of campaigning, we are making an impact. What was once being waved through is now being questioned — publicly and officially.
In the meantime, awareness is growing across Northern Ireland and beyond about the urgent issues we’ve raised from the start:
🚨 Sewage and infrastructure failures
🌍 Climate change and unsustainable development
🌿 The need to protect biodiversity and green space
These are not fringe concerns. They are central to the wellbeing of our communities and the future of the Lagan Valley.
Thank you to every one of you who has signed, shared, spoken out or supported us along the way. Please keep sharing this petition and helping us raise awareness.
Every voice matters. Let’s keep going.
