"Don't be a loser, stop the abuser"

The Issue

First of all, what is animal cruelty? Animal Cruelty is defined as depriving an animal of food, water, shelter, and/or veterinary care. Torturing, maiming, or killing animals is also animal cruelty. There are a lot of cases of animal cruelty here in the Philippines and the most common victims of this are the ones we call pets such as cats and dogs. These animals are receiving such extreme aggression by their owners or people around them.

However, despite the fact that people view them as members of their families, man's greatest friend, etc., they continue to be treated in this manner like neglecting them by depriving them from their needs some pet owners are mutilating their pets because of thinking that this is a part of their family tradition for example the tail of their dogs are needed to cut off in order to grow furious and strong and it serves that they will become more loyal to their owners. Some cases here in the Philippines are the animals beating them to death because of their boredom. The worst case scenario they will cook and eat it in cold blood. There is a recent case that startled the netizens because this human put the cat in the blender and afterwards he put it in a microwave. This is such a disturbing video for everyone, especially for the pet lovers. We need to be more aware of this kind of situation that happens mostly everytime and we should protect pets including other kinds of animals because they are also living things, they also have feelings and souls just like us humans. We have this law in our country that protects and promotes the welfare of animals here in the Philippines and this is RA 8485. RA 8485 is the purpose of this Act to protect and promote the welfare of all animals in the Philippines by supervising and regulating the establishment and operations of all facilities utilized for breeding, maintaining, keeping, treating or training of all animals either as objects of trade or as household pets. We have this organization called PAWS and once we encounter some kind of situation like people abusing animals or we see some stray cats and dogs we can contact this organization and we can help these animals to create a better world for them. The Philippine Animal Welfare Society(PAWS) is a volunteer-based, non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty through education, animal sheltering and advocacy, based in Quezon City, Philippines. It was founded in 1954 by Muriel Jay.
