Help protect watersheds and critical wildlife habitat from extreme BLM logging sale.

This petition had 6,625 supporters

The Pickett West timber sale currently offered by the Bureau of Land Management is composed of lands selected throughout the Selma, Grants Pass and Murphy areas, many containing forest stands over 150 years old. At least 20 of these parcels include the springs, creeks and riparian areas that provide water to the surrounding communities, residences, small farms and wildlife. The BLM prescription calls for reducing the forest canopy from 90% down to 30% (29% IS CONSIDERED A CLEARCUT!) in many of these units. The water sources will dry up.
We need to act together now and be heard to prevent the destruction of these critical areas. An environmental impact statement was not done, apparently they decided our concerns over this are "insignificant".

We need your voices to reinforce the dire importance of this issue. We need every resident, landowner, farmer, hiker, biker, gardener, hunter, fisherman, family, and lover of wildlife to sign this petition requesting the “No Action” alternative for the Pickett West timber sale. Even if you live out of the area your signature will help a great deal. Please help us save our watersheds. The logging industry must change with the times that we are facing. More forethought and consideration must be given to our water sources and critical old growth areas. A more selective approach, certainly not in our watersheds, would be more sustainable.

If we all just do a little bit, we can make a difference. We have to protect these areas that we love and rely on to provide clean air and water for us and future generations. In this time where water is so valuable because of drought, record high temperatures, and climate change this is more important than ever. This forest belongs to all of us.

By signing this petition you are asking for the No action alternative in response to the environmental assessment which can be viewed at:
We appreciate your signature, if you would like to make a bigger impact to help prevent this sale you can email comments to: (what appear to be spaces are actually underscores) You don't have to live in Oregon to help with this.

Lets stand together to help protect our forests and water!
