Save the Dominican University tennis programs
The COVID-19 pandemic has been excruciating on many levels, including financially. Unfortunately, this has led to cuts in many sectors of higher education, including collegiate athletics. The Dominican University men's and women's tennis teams are in jeopardy. It has been announced that for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year that the program will be completely dissipated, and funding from the tennis program will be used to expand the athletics depart. How is this cut expanding athletics by removing a whole program? The tennis program is a relatively low budget team, due to use of off-site facilities, use of previous uniforms, and a small coaching staff. Cutting this program harms school enrollment levels, university involvement, and overall diversity of the Dominican University student- athlete body.
