Nikki's story has gone public with CBC news. While it is a tragic and sad example of a misapplication of policy, it fits within the broader narrative that sees children falling through the cracks, not receiving equitable education, and parents without decision-making power. I am in the grueling appeals process to fight for my son to be given an opportunity to receive his grade 1 education, in a grade 1 classroom and not be pushed from kindergarten to grade 2 and put on a modified track. I have reached almost 900 signatures and with hope will have more 'voices' join the effort to see change within the New Brunswick Education system. I thank you all for the support.
