Domestic Abuse Suicide Recognition LawUnited Kingdom
Jul 23, 2026

You've already stood with us by signing the petition. Thank you.

Every signature sends a powerful message that victims of domestic abuse deserve to be recognised, heard and remembered. Together, we've built a growing movement calling for change across Northern Ireland.

Now, we're asking for one more thing.....

If domestic abuse has touched your life as a survivor, a bereaved family member, a friend, or someone supporting a loved one, please consider sharing your story.

Whether you choose to remain completely anonymous, share your first name, or use your full name is entirely your decision. It's your story, your voice, and your choice. Even if you prefer to stay out of the spotlight, your experience still matters and deserves to be heard.

Since launching our Victim Stories initiative, we've already received deeply personal accounts from people affected by domestic abuse. With permission, some of these stories have been shared during meetings with charities, organisations and decision-makers supporting our campaign.

Their impact has been extraordinary.

These real-life experiences have helped move conversations beyond statistics. They remind people that behind every number is a real person, a real family and lives forever changed by domestic abuse. They are helping decision-makers understand why recognition matters and why change is urgently needed.

If you would like to share your story but do not want it used publicly, that's absolutely okay. Simply let us know in the comments section of the form that you do not give permission for your story to be shared, and we will respect your wishes completely. Your experience is still valuable and will help us better understand the impact domestic abuse has on victims, survivors and bereaved families.

Your story could be the one that inspires the next step towards change.

Whether your experience happened recently or many years ago, whether you're still healing or remembering someone you've lost, your voice matters.

By sharing your experience, you could help shape future policy, improve awareness, support other victims and families, and help ensure that no one else becomes an invisible victim.
