Marijuana also called as cannabis has a life-long importance in the human history. It started in Asia around 500 BC. The development of the said plant is not to experience addiction or feeling “high” but rather for herbal medicine. Marijuana has been proven by multiple scientific studies to have various of medical uses, but its legalization is still an issue in the nation. This medical marijuana or medical cannabis is not just a plant, it is something that has a major effect in both political and social standards. To what extent will the government be bound to continue avoiding the fact that marijuana should be legalized in medical purposes to regulate social change. This can be done when our voices will be heard through this small act of internet petition. We are calling the attention of the government specially the Department of Health (DOH) for this mater, as they are the one who is responsible in legalizing it. Legalizing Medical Marijuana have major advantages for the people who suffers severe diseases like Cancer, Epilepsy, HIV/AIDS, etc. However, some individual uses marijuana intentionally that resulted in self harm. For this reason, people often didn’t see the fact that marijuana is not just a drug that can be addictive, but it can also use as a medicine in certain diseases as well.

There are real situations that can prove that the medical marijuana is essential in our country.  In the Philippines, 189 of every 100,000 Filipinos are afflicted with cancer, while 4 Filipinos die of cancer every hour or 96 cancer patients every day, according to a study conducted by the University of the Philippines' Institute of Human Genetics, National Institutes of Health. In this action, Medical marijuana can be a solution in the increasing number of cancer patient in the Philippines. Also, over 750,000 Filipinos suffers in Epilepsy, majority of them suffers in productive years of their lives. Several studies proved that Medical Marijuana is the solution for this increasing case of such conditions. Therefore, Medical Marijuana or cannabis should be legalized in the Philippines which may decrease the number of death incidents that caused by said severe diseases. This could finally take out cancer, the beast that takes more than 96 lives every day, almost 35,000 lives yearly!

Department of Health are the responsible about the issue of legalization of marijuana here in the Philippines. It is time where they must provide change. Nevertheless, we do not say that marijuana will be completely allowed for everyone. Right usage with limitation and prescribed medicine must be attain. Because as experts the department of health should know that there are the benefits from the substance of marijuana. That it can provide medical assistance such as maintenance for those people that need. Because Medical marijuana is used for palliative care for chronic pain nausea for patients undergoing chemotherapy, certain seizure disorders, etc. which is vital for those patients who need it most. As part of the action that the DOH must provide a law that would prohibit individuals by buying marijuana in recreational purposes, they should also give these drugs who need it the most or to the personnel who are licensed to handle this kind of medicinal plant.

Kindly sign this petition. Your support will eventually save hundreds of thousands of people that battling medical condition. sign for your friends, sign for everyone who has a medical condition such as cancer or epilepsy, sign for the change. This natural medicine could cure them!  We, the petitioner believes that an action should be taken on this kind of matter. This will offer some services and resources that will make our country better than it is. Hopefully this would end up for more voices to be heard. WE ARE COUNTING ON YOU!
