Dogwood Classical Academy, A Hillsdale College Barney Charter School, has purchased a building in Kannapolis to offer a top of the line education to children grades K-5 and eventually k-12.  This quality education is free to its students.  However, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners is taking steps to block the sale of the building to Dogwood Classical Academy through eminent domain. We would like you to sign our petition to show your support for the first of many high quality, free, alternative educational options for our children.

Dogwood Classical Academy uses the teacher-student model of Classical Education in single-grade classrooms.  Kindergarten-5th Grade students will experience a rich and recurring examination of age-appropriate literature, moral, philosophical, and historical traditions of Western Civilization and American Culture.

The Curriculum will include Phonics, Singapore Math, Stories of American Heroes, Latin and Grammar.  Dogwood Classical Academy is the only public school in the state of NC to partner with Hillsdale College for curriculum and support.

Apparently, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners believes that the citizens of Cabarrus County and surrounding areas would be better served if the property were used for County offices and for Partners Health rather than to provide a quality education for children whose parents are desperately trying to find an alternative to the regular public schools.
