Dogs and pets should be allowed in all rental properties
The Issue
As a renter, I have lived in one house where the couple next door held a Jerry Springer show every afternoon, and in one house with a newborn next door (cute but noisier than my dog could ever dream of being). Now looking at the rental market (as I have been for almost 10 years) I find it impossible like many young professionals in the UK to live somewhere with my 11-year-old dog, who is better house trained than most people I know. They use excuses like this house is not acceptable for pets when in reality landlords are afraid their precious properties might get a big of dog poo in them, and a real estate agent should not decide what is acceptable for our lives. It's shameful that you don't need a licence to become a landlord. It's shameful that developers are building houses where we walk pets and play with children instead give those houses to comfortable people to make a profit on people struggling. Just to pay someone else's mortgage at the expense of never being able to get their own house. This affects anyone under the age of 40. It needs to be stopped especially in the UK.
