The issue

Banjo (above) and Robyn have had enough of the tensions during the cricket season and though this season is nearly over being faced with an ongoing issue for  6 months of the year is unbearable. Dog owners using Gillon oval in Brunswick have been bullied and abused by volunteers attached to the Cricket Club and by Council staff. This petition aims to get a meeting with Councillors and council officers to assist both the dog community and the cricket club to co exist peacefully.  Such things as proper temporary fencing around the pitch, bins in the park, mowing to be done in non-peak dog walking time eg after 9 am, education to the cricket club about the cost of the pitch and their dependence on rate payers, a zero tolerance for abuse by either side of the communities, clear messaging on peak cricket times and a mowing timetable each week to enable dog owners to plan their walk times around pitch usage and upkeep. Most concerning has been the abuse by Council Officers which is completely unacceptable given we are all ratepayers.
