Document Bryce Jensen's Impact on the Community
Document Bryce Jensen's Impact on the Community
The Issue
Many of you may be aware that the Renton School District has laid off Bryce Jensen from his position as the Lindbergh Pool Manager. The pool manager position has been combined into one position for both pools in the school district.
While it may not be possible for the School District to reverse this decision, I think it is important to inform the board and leadership that this is a terrible mistake. To do so I want to document the impact Bryce has made in the school district and the community.
During the recent budget cuts some of the goals were to: “make reductions as far away from classrooms and schools as possible” and “keep the student experience and strategic framework at the core of decisions.” Laying off Bryce Jensen will have a much larger impact on student experience than the district realizes.
Bryce Jensen is more than just a pool manager. He is a teacher, a mentor, a first boss, a safe person, an award-winning dive coach, a successful swim coach, a booster volunteer, a loyal and dedicated man. We will be losing an invested individual who has been involved in the lives of students at Renton, Hazen, Lindbergh, and Kentridge high schools. This does not include all the other students who Bryce has impacted as a coach or boss throughout many other school districts.
I would like to document the impact Bryce has had on this community and its students with as many voices as possible. Please consider signing with your name to document the impact Bryce has had on you, your family, and the community.
Thank you.
