Please help us to stop the senseless, ongoing clear-cutting of our Michigan state forests.
The DNR does not currently take into consideration how their clear-cutting will affect adjacent private landowners. They currently do not consider where the wildlife will migrate to or how their migration could affect neighboring private lands and their owners. The MI DNR CURRENTLY DOES NOT monitor their run-off rain water once it leaves their state-owned, clear-cut areas.

We need the MI DNR to stop this mindless clear-cutting beginning with the proposed 54-acre destruction off Reber Rd. in Oscoda County, Michigan. Join us by signing this petition to stop this timber sale and clear-cutting immediately. Forests are disappearing in Michigan at an alarming rate.
Rain water run-off and erosion on adjacent private properties, caused by clear-cutting, needs to be stopped. The Michigan DNR is not looking at the “big picture” as whole sections of northern Michigan trees are disappearing at an alarming rate, due to clear-cutting.

And who then suffers from the greed of these bureaucrats?  Adjacent landowners, area citizens, the wildlife and our local watershed suffer greatly.  Yes, these undeterred rainwater run-offs, caused from the clear-cutting, are also polluting our lakes, streams and wetlands. Did you know that “clear-cut adjacent wetlands, lakes and streams adjacent to these STATE LAND clear-cuts are not accessed or monitored? Yes, their demise is not cared for by the DNR who is charged with the management of these clear-cut projects. Again, we need to act quickly to stop this impending sale.

Please sign this petition to stop the clear-cutting off Reber Road and the subsequent pollution of Perry Lake in Oscoda County from this calamity.

We must stop this onslaught of clear-cutting from creating a 1930’s Michigan. At the turn of the 20th Century, practically all of Michigan suffered from the greed and timberland abuse of the lumber industry. Millions of trees were cut down needlessly. Now that the 2nd generation of pristine forests is finally reappearing, these 100-year old woodland giants are again under attack…an attack sanctioned and directed by the DNR and the State of Michigan. Once these forests are cut, it will take another century to replenish and support the local ecosystem. Yes, they are disappearing for you and generations to come.

As citizens and taxpayers, we do not want to see whole areas of Michigan forest wiped out for another century.  In California, the Redwoods and Sequoia forests are cherished and protected.
Do we want anything less for our Michigan forests? Of course not.

Have you ever tried to “walk or hike” through a clear-cut area? Brush and fallen trees are left behind by the heavy equipment. One section off Reber Rd. was clear-cut by the DNR a decade ago. It is still impossible to hike and enjoy. So saying, the policy of the MI DNR calls for the “Management” of each section of the state forests. Susan and the Michigan DNR are planning to clear-cut 54-acres of pristine forests soon.
The DNR will make $167,000.00 for just this one sale of trees. Aside from a couple of small islands of trees, all will be destroyed and removed.
This section of forest will be impassable for decades to come.  Please join in stopping the DNR from making yet another section of State forest unusable and uninhabitable for our citizenry and wildlife today, while ignoring the collateral damage to adjacent property and waterways.
