Justice for Little Maggie
The Issue
On Friday August 9th 2019 in Prairie Grove, AK, A little dog named Maggie was in her own backyard when the next door neighbor's dog (a Boxer) dug underneath the fence and viciously attacked her. Instead of transporting the severely injured dog to a veterinary hospital, The teenage son who owns the Boxer drove Maggie 3 miles down the road and dumped her into a muddy ditch to die near a water park.
Miraculously, someone found her and took her bloody body to the Prairie Grove police station where she was transferred to an undisclosed veterinary hospital. Maggie was microchipped and her owner, Rhonda Witherspoon who was at work at the time of the attack was contacted. Maggie was then taken to Wedington Animal Hospital in Fayetteville, AK which is her regular veterinarian. Her injuries include multiple bite wounds, injury & swelling of the spine. One of her front legs was so badly broken, it had to be amputated. She also endured the unimaginable pain of not receiving any care or help while she lay lifeless in the ditch where she was left to die. It is amazing that she survived.It is believed that the neighbor's teenage son is responsible for this horrific act. The Boxer belongs to him and he did not want his dog to be punished so he dumped Maggie like a piece of trash to protect his dog from being confiscated & quarantined. The Prairie Grove Police said that they were unable to make an arrest because there wasn't an eye witness. Her owners are now left with thousands of dollars of Veterinary bills that they cannot afford through no fault of their own. I am asking that the owners of the Boxer are held accountable for the unspeakable horror they have deliberately & maliciously caused. By charging these individuals with felony animal cruelty if possible and/or felony animal abuse. I am asking for the assistance of City Attorney of Prairie Grove AK- Steve Parker and District Court Judge Graham Nations to impose these charges upon the owners of the Boxer in addition to the maximum fines & additional penalties allowable by law in the City & State of Fayetteville, Arkansas.
