This is to bring to your notice that illegal mining of minor minerals (i.e., stone) has been taking place in our area which is the effecting the locals dreadfully.

No rules or act is being followed by the quarry owners, they are not thinking about the environment or the people. Several serious environmental impacts are being seen because of the quarrying activities such as vibrations, land degradation, water pollution, noise pollution, and air pollution that are leading to serious health-related problems.

Vibration due to high amount of explosives used in quarrying is cracking down human constructions like houses, schools etc, as the site is located less than 500 meters from human constructions. This is creating terror in peoples mind, they fear to live in their houses, even students are afraid to go to school, everyone has a fear that their roof may collapse, and the explosions are such, sometimes the debris even comes to the village. We believe that the explosive used are way more than the norms and all the explosives are brought illegally.

Land degradation is another serious issue that has been seen in the locality due to quarrying; the productive capacity of the land is declining day-by-day. Every year the production of rice and vegetables are decreasing due to loss of soil nutrients, all because of the excessive explosion. This is financially weakling farmers. Farmers are quitting farming and going outside the state to work as they do not see any future here, hence there is downfall of the economy in the locality.

Noise Pollution is also another major issue, the sound of explosive are very high, and continuous blast is making it more worse. We fear noise-induced hearing loss in children, newborns and old age people. We fear the sound may give old age people heart attack.

When the mines are blasted the dust and dangerous gases are released to the environment creating air pollution and as the village is just 500 metres from the mining site, all the dangerous gases are inhaled by the children’s, women’s and all other locals that are causing breathing problems in the locals. This is really a dangerous issue. It’s affecting the whole villagers.

Quarrying is also polluting the only pond in the village. There is a pond near the quarrying area where all locals rely on for bathing and fish farming. All the chemicals from the explosives run down to that pond, because there is no proper drainage system in the quarry. People are bathing on the chemically infused water; the fishes are living on the same water which are ate by the villagers and are also commercially sold, unaware of what is inside those fish. This is affecting people with dangerous health problems like kidney failure and many more.

The people owning the quarry legally or illegally are doing nothing to protect the environment, they are just taking it casually, and all that they are caring about is money, they are not thinking about the children’s, about the women’s or about the people.
We warned them about the environment, we warned them about deceases, we asked them to shut down there operations but they did not care.

So, dear sir with deepened respect we state you our issue and hope that you understand the depth and the urgency of the situation and hope that necessary action will be taken as soon as possible to help us out of this problem, for which we shall ever remain grateful to you.
