Greetings Congressman Johnson and The Newton County BOC,

The residents of the District voted for a facility for our youth in 2017 because we were informed it would be in our community. We haven't had any recreation in the densest area or something for our youth to do to keep them out of trouble. It is up to you, elected officials, to protect us and provide what we need in this area. We were promised a facility to support our youth and the residents have spoken. Letters were sent to you all from the community and we have shown up to express our needs. We pay the most property taxes because we have the most homes in the county with nothing in return for the taxes we pay or the impact fees the county receives from this community. We are lacking in recreation and only have a park inside a subdivision that we cannot use due to the lack of parking spaces and where it is located. It is also an inconvenience to the homeowners in Fairview Estates. Also, where are the sidewalks that were granted to us by the Congressman? When will this begin and why hasn't someone from the county informed us? Every District has recreation suitable for its residents and one district is currently building a facility, except District 3.

The land has been presented and we stated in our public meeting to move forward with the purchase of land to place in the Fairview corridor area to reach the youth. Why are the Commissioners plotting against our district to stop progress? This is not the behavior of elected officials that residents have put in place to represent us. We thought we were, "One Newton" but you haven't fought for anything to go into District 3. Why are you prolonging this project when the funding is available? If we have to rally like our friends in Morgan county and get the media out to Newton County then we will. Stop and think why you have been placed in office. If it is for personal and selfish gain, then you need to step down from your positions immediately. The Residents of Newton County neither District 3 agreed to partner with the Boys and Girls Club which has done nothing for majority of the youth in our community. The parents and youth expressed they wanted their own facility where the taxpayers have a say in the programming and operations of the building.

Sincerely,

The Residents of District 3 and Newton County.
