Research indicates that the use of AI and the over reliance of education technologies in the classroom setting results in poor performance outcomes for students.

We disagree with District 27’s adoption of Brisk Technologies AI Software and any other AI tools to be used by students as part of the writing curriculum.

Pursuant to Sections 2:260 and 6:260 of the Board of Education Policies, we propose that District 27 eliminates the recent changes to the writing curriculum. 

If District 27 decides to keep AI as part of the writing curriculum, we request a meaningful opt-out program for parents who disagree with the use of AI as part of the writing curriculum. 

Furthermore, we suggest that District 27 creates a committee with community members, including parents and teachers, to discuss any other future changes regarding AI and educational technology in the classroom.
