This Plant-based, vegan-friendly coconut-based liqueur from Amarula is suitable for those with dairy, gluten, and nut intolerances, also certified by the Vegan Society but is not available for sale in South Africa. It makes no sense whatsoever, especially as there are three other dairy-based variants on the shelves.

It is also not available to purchase online within South Africa. We are tired of begging friends or family coming into the country to purchase it for us at Duty-Free at the airport. Calling Distell has not yielded any satifasfactory response. We want to be able to purchase the currently only plant-based South African cream liqueur, in South Africa!

Amarula is a cream liqueur made from Marula fruit in South Africa. The Marula tree (Sclerocarya birrea) only grows in Africa's subequatorial plains, and is the base for Amarula Cream.

The liqueur is produced by the Southern Liquer Company and is part of the Distell portfolio of brands. This version is a plant-based option in which the coconut flavour in undetectable.
