I write this petition as a devoted fan of Syracuse Men's basketball. I watch every second of every game even though we have not had a great year. In Syracuse's prime, we would make the NCAA tournament every season, nationally ranked, and known as a powerhouse in college basketball. Nowadays, we are lucky if we are even on the bubble for the NCAA tournament, we have not been ranked since 2018, and the program has fallen off like crazy. I am deeply concerned about how Adrian "Red" Autry's coaching affects the team's performance and recruitment capabilities. Our team's ability to win games and attract new talent has been noticeably hindered under Autry's leadership. I believe it was necessary for the University to explore other options than Coach Boeheim, and I believe it was the right choice to move on from him. It has been made clear that Red Autry is NOT the solution. 

Like the football program, a completely fresh start is needed. Bring in someone outside of the current program, like how football did with Fran Brown. After Coach Fran took over, it was a complete 180 for the program. 

Syracuse, known for its legacy in college basketball, has been gradually losing its star power and competitive edge. Statistics show a decline in team performance, and recruitment of top-ranked players, since Autry assumed his coaching responsibilities. One could argue that the recruitment of Donnie Freeman, Saddiq White and Kiyan Anthony help his case, when in reality, when the team struggles, players will want to better their opportunity and transfer elsewhere. It will truthfully take a full 180 for the program to be successful again.  

The name of the game in today's college basketball is the transfer portal and NIL money. With Syracuse's struggles, top players from the power 4 conferences will not want to play here. Simply relying on mid majors will not get us to the NCAA Tournament, let alone the goal of winning a championship. Sure, mid-major players can contribute to a winning program, but an entire team (or almost an entire team) can not be made up of talent from mid-major schools. With a winning program, fans are more likely to support the University, which could help NIL money.

Fans of Syracuse Men's basketball are not as interested as they once were in the program. People do not feel a personal investment with the school anymore. Some fans don't even pay attention to the team anymore, and don't watch or keep up with the program.
