I am part of a thriving business community in South Carolina, significantly affected by the operations of the South Carolina Athletic Commission for Wrestling. Its actions impact our livelihood as well as the entertainment industry in our state. Despite being pegged as a sporting body, the commission oversees what is widely seen as entertainment, not a sport - wrestling. The commission's operations have proven financially burdensome for the state, draining resources instead of adding value. Most damningly, the management team shows a glaring lack of understanding about the sports entertainment industry, let alone maintaining accurate records. It is critical to point out that wrestling is essentially entertainment, not requiring intense state regulation. Therefore, the need to shut down this inefficient body becomes increasingly paramount. Jeopardizing our state's potential, the commission's ineffectiveness deters major wrestling entertainment companies, like WWE, from considering South Carolina for their events, thereby losing significant economic and entertainment value for our state. Hence, eliminating this commission becomes an act of financial prudence and an invitation for the multi-billion dollar wrestling industry to thrive here. Save our businesses, our entertainment, and attract the best wrestling entities back to our great state. It is time to dismantle the South Carolina Athletic Commission for Wrestling.
