I live along U.S. 281 in the northern part of Bexar County, Texas, where every day, I witness an injustice being perpetrated by a network of traffic cameras. These cameras, also installed along Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 near Wurzbach Parkway, have assumed the role of traffic cops, issuing hundreds of citations for alleged speeding without any human oversight or intervention. For me, and many other residents, it feels like a total violation. The time has come to challenge the legality and validity of these systems.

The issue extends beyond our personal experiences. Texas, as a state known for its firm stance on individual liberties and rights, finds these security measures unnerving. Existing legal authorities have not made explicit provisions for the implementation of such automated traffic enforcement systems. Yet, they are in operation, flagrantly undermining Texas residents' rights.

We are urging the local authorities to take immediate steps towards the dismantlement of Bexar County's traffic camera system. Its operation represents a dangerous precedent that compromises the thin line between public safety and intrusion of privacy. Let's stand together to protect our rights as Texans.
