Discharge Members of the Navy SEALs Investigated for Racial Abuse

The Issue

Racism has no place in the U.S. military — and that includes the most elite forces.

A CBS News report revealed that members of Navy SEAL Team 4 based in Virginia circulated racist memes and targeted a Black teammate for years in a Signal chat.

The abuse included degrading and dehumanizing images, and it went unchallenged by leadership until it became public.

Even worse: the targeted sailor lost his SEAL qualification during this time, only to have it reinstated after an internal review.

But the individuals who spread hate and created a toxic, discriminatory environment? Still in uniform.

The two enlisted SEALs now face non-judicial punishment and punitive letters in their files, The Associated Press reported.

This is unacceptable.

We call on the Department of Defense and U.S. Navy leadership and Rear Adm. Jamie Sands, head of Naval Special Warfare, to immediately discharge any SEALs involved in racist conduct.

Enforce zero-tolerance policies across all Special Warfare units.

Send a clear message that racism is not compatible with military service — at any level.

Our armed forces are built on trust, unity, and respect. No one who harbors or spreads hate should be allowed to lead or serve beside others.
