Why this petition matters

Started by John Rski

Disc Golf is one of America’s fastest growing sports/activities. It promotes a healthy lifestyle, it is accessible to people of all ages and abilities, it is environmentally friendly, and it is growing!

In 2021 there were 11.6 Million rounds recorded using Udisc, the official scorecard app of the Professional Disc Golf Association. This was a 50% increase over the previous year and is just one statistic that indicates the increasing popularity of Disc Golf Nationally. Locally, Valley View Park (New Berlin) logged 12,300 recorded rounds in 2021; although the actual number is higher because not every golfer uses Udisc.

The City of Brookfield has 27 public parks, none of which currently incorporate Disc Golf. Mary Knoll Park, on 615 S. Sunnyslope Rd, would make an excellent candidate for Brookfield’s first Disc Golf Course.

Presently, Mary Knoll is used for tennis, nature walking, and playground activities. If Disc Golf were added to the park it would not interfere with the recreation previously mentioned, and it would increase the usage of the park without invasive and expensive development.

This petition was created by Brookfield residents with the intent of demonstrating community interest. If Disc Golf is something you’d like to see the Brookfield Parks and Recreation Department seriously consider please join us and sign up in support.
