The time has come for action against the homeowners association (HOA) board of Bayview Estates in Havre de Grace, MD. As a member of this community, I've watched our savings vanish on projects we did not vote on, like the replacement of a playground that saw little to no consultation with those it impacts most—us, the residents.

But that's not all. Funds have also been channeled into invasive surveillance measures that monitor community members without any transparent discussion or approval. The use of hidden cameras infringes on our privacy and autonomy, creating an atmosphere of distrust and anxiety that no resident should be subjected to in their own neighborhood.

To add to these financial and privacy concerns, there have been multiple reports of board members harassing community residents. These unsettling incidents create an oppressive environment when residents raise concerns or speak out against these unethical practices.

When the board was elected, no one in the community believed we would face such violations of privacy, nor the authoritarian oversight that has developed under their leadership. Our voices deserve to be heard and our rights respected in the decision-making processes that affect our lives and homes.

Disbanding this current HOA board would allow us to reclaim control over our community. We fired one faulty HOA company and we can disband this one to take our chances with the City of Havre de Grace.
