Hello to everyone who is supporting my petition.
Before I share any updates, I want to take a moment to draw attention to another petition, a truly heartbreaking story involving an NDIS participant who lost their life on the 11th of August 2024.
Listen to Jack: Call for Reform to Address the Human Cost of NDIS Fraud Policies
Jack was only 19 years old, living with late-stage Duchenne muscular dystrophy, which is a degenerative muscle condition.
Like many other NDIS participants, Jack's funding was significantly reduced.
Jack lived in specialist disability accommodation, where there was on-call help service, but according to this 9News article there were circumstances due to Jack's disability where Jack would be unable to reach the phone.
"When you can't roll yourself in bed, you really need someone there 24 hours a day, in case something happens," she said.
"If he dropped his phone from his lap, he wouldn't be able to go get it and call for help.
The most heartbreaking part of this story, is that Jack's final message before he went into cardiac arrest was to his OT.
Jack texted his OT four minutes before he died, asking about a letter about his case which she had written to NDIS minister Bill Shorten.
Jack's last message before he passed away was:
"Any response from the letter?"
"Nope 😭"
Jack needed funding 24/7. I cannot imagine the distress and anxiety that would have been plaguing his mind during such a critical moment, but also from not having the support he desperately needed.
My sincere thoughts go out to Jack's friends, family and support team.
The system needs to change - innocent lives are being lost.

Also, a huge thank you to everyone who has helped by signing and sharing my petition. We have passed 1000 signatures! I couldn't have done this without you all supporting me. Thank you so much.
My story hasn't ended yet. I can still fight for change and I will keep on fighting the good fight.
Since living in a tent, I have faced COUNTLESS dangers. I've battled the worst severe weather on the NSW coast, I've survived copious amounts of rain and managed to stay alive despite the amount of flooding we had.
My resilience is a testament to my inner strength. I will keep speaking up about my situation with dedication and continue to stand up for our rights.
For anyone that is able to support me further, I have a GoFundMe page to help cover basic daily living expenses while I’m living in a tent through winter. If you or anyone you know is able to donate, please consider helping.

Thank you all again for your support and I will keep you updated.
I'm determined to keep fighting for change and will do my best to ensure our voices are heard.
If you have a story you'd like to share with me, I’d love to hear from you.

(ADHD limitations apply - while I may not have time to reply to every message, and can get very cognitively overwhelmed when I get a lot of messages, I still do want to hear from you! I’ll do my best to read them all. Your stories are important to me, just like Jack's, I want to ensure that our voices are heard before it's too late.)
In solidarity and strength 💪 ❤️
