Offer NFL RedZone outside of Sunday Ticket

The Issue

I am starting a petition against DirecTV and the National Football League. For years, viewers have enjoyed NFL Sunday Ticket programming with the satellite giant and have paid enormous amounts of money year after year to be able to enjoy the package. This package, upgraded to Sunday Ticket MAX, is usually over $300.00 and it includes the NFL RedZone channel. The RedZone channel is a combination of all games, showing you bits and pieces of each game along the way and keeping tabs on all the scores. It's a one stop shop for those who like to pay attention to more than one game.

DirecTV claims they cannot separate the RedZone channel from their Sunday Ticket programming.

I am petitioning to let DirecTV and the National Football League know that this is absurd. I have been a loyal subscriber to the package for years and the NFL is really the only reason I ever contacted DTV. I enjoy my service, but I no longer wish to watch just one game, nor pay over $300.00 for the package, when I only use it for one channel. I like the excitement and the updates all on one easy channel.

This channel is offered by nearly every cable or dish company around for a small monthly fee. Comcast charges $4.95 a month for the channel and it also includes seven additional sports channels. Verizon Fios charges a flat $69.99 for the service, which also includes mobile viewing. Dish charges $11.00 a month for a package that includes three extra sports channels. Time Warner Cable charges $8.99 for a package that comes with 20 more channels. These are just a few of the many providers that offer the channel in the United States. There are others that offer it around the world.

DirecTV has made it even harder for viewers to get the RedZone Channel, taking it away from the $239.94 priced Sunday Ticket package and moving it to the $329.94 Sunday Ticket MAX package, which also includes a new fantasy football channel, the ability to stream on a smartphone or tablet, and a shortcut version of each game.

DirecTV claims that they cannot separate this channel, as the feeds do not allow it. That is simply not true, as the feed and channel come from the same studio that the NFL Network is based out of. If DirecTV can offer NFL Network, why can't they offer RedZone?

I am willing to pay a little bit extra every month for RedZone channel - Even willing to pay a $69.99 fee like Verizon charges for the one channel all season - I am however, not willing to fork over upwards of $320 dollars to enjoy one extra channel.

Please join me in making it known we want RedZone separated!!!
