On Wednesday, October 24th the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) is scheduled to conduct an oil & gas lease auction where the mineral rights of up to 125,000 acres of state owned land will be leased off for oil and gas development. These auctions allow Michigan’s parks and public land to be susceptible the harmful effects of various extraction methods such as hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”. 

Citizens Against Drilling On Public Land (CADPL) is a newly founded organization dedicated to ending MDNR oil & gas lease auctions. We believe that through a network of oppositional power we can send a powerful message that our public parks, public land, and state forests should be protected, not exploited.
