Since free analog TV  basically no longer exists in America, many of us use cable or satellite TV providers,and we pay a lot of money to use their services. On Jan. 1, 2017  Direct TV and other providers had not reached a negotiation with some of their network affiliates, so the channels are no longer being shown. In Orlando, we lost our NBC and ABC channels. Across the country, other stations are affected.  Many people also purchased NFL Sunday ticket packages in order to watch games (to the tune of $300/years extra) and many of those games are not shown. And of course they chose  a big sports  and Holiday weekend to end the service. They display a message on the "closed" channels directing you to a web site "DirectvPromise.com" and of course it doesn't work.

I pay over $150 a month for a "medium" package that is TV only, no internet or extra sports channels) and I feel like Direct TV is breaching their promise of having these channels as their mainstays.  I, like many others, depend on the local news stations for traffic, weather and news information as well as entertainment.

I hope someone will  start a class action lawsuit  to let us recoup the loss of use of these channels. For sure I want a partial refund.  I switched to Direct TV because the local cable providers at the time had bad service, but now there are 2 new cable providers that I will be checking out. If I decided to switch, I expect to be let out of my 2 year service contract without penalty. I chose Direct TV because they provided what I wanted, and now they have failed me.
