The Issue

The healthcare industry is a cornerstone of our society, providing essential services that ensure the well-being of millions. However, a significant issue within this sector requires urgent attention: including Physical Therapists (PTs), Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs), Occupational Therapists (OTs), Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) as “direct care workers” Despite our critical contributions and skilled care we provide  we do not receive the financial recognition we deserve that nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) already receive.

Numerous studies highlight the immense value that PTs and OTs provide in improving patient outcomes. For instance, patients undergoing physical therapy often exhibit faster recovery times and reduced pain levels to transition to their next level of care.

This reform will not only ensure fair compensation but also enhance job satisfaction and retain skilled practitioners, ultimately benefiting patient care.  We deserve to receive the direct care worker wages we do not currently receive.

Your support is crucial to make this change happen. By signing this petition, you are advocating for equity in the healthcare industry, ensuring that every professional receives the acknowledgment and compensation they deserve. Let's make healthcare fairer, not just for nurses and CNAs, but for all committed to serving patients. Sign today to drive essential reform.
