DMV Calls for Renaming Suggestions!

Dear All,

I am happy to inform you that DMV is taking steps towards a gender-neutral name!

In the first issue of the "Mitteilungen Der DMV" of 2024, Prof. Dr. Joachim Escher has announced that the executive committee of DMV calls for renaming suggestions and their justifications. The call is open until 30.06.2024. The executive committee will then select some candidate names and create an opinion poll for the members of DMV.

If you are already a member of DMV, I strongly encourage you for your active participation. Please also note that the abbreviations of the suggested names can be different than DMV.

If you are not a member yet, it is still not too late to become one!

Here are some other updates from 2023:

DMV now has a group division called "Gender Diversity and Sustainability".  During the annual meeting of DMV, the group division organised a mini-symposium in which I had the chance to give a talk about our petition (here you could find my slides). There was a lot of positive feedback. People were engaged and excited to initiate a change.
