We NEED to do more!!!
The Issue
Look outside we are surrounded by nature here in New Jersey and we have chosen to preserve these woods and the animals that live in them. Yet thousands of animals are killed every single day on the highways and roads because some people don't have the patience to wait for them to move away. In small communities, it is common to see deers on the roads and around the backyards but when you're in your car and see a deer on the road you should wait for the deer to move away instead of running over.
Many people have the theory in the mind that honking and flashing lights will make the deer move away, Well what they don't know is that the flashing lights blind the deer's eyes and the loud noises scare them, this makes them even more inclined to stop because they can't see where they are going or even understand what the message you are trying to get across them is. The better thing to do in this situation would be to simply wait for the deer or other animal to pass.
This seems like such a simple idea, but the problem is that it gets more complicated because some people already know this and still decide to ignore it. In their hurry to get their Wendy's burger they run over the animal. Instead of waiting 30 seconds, they decided to run over an animal. It really makes me think that people care more about there 1 dollar burger than the life of an innocent animal.
One way we can fix this is by making this an official rule, even though accidents happen you can usually tell through footage if it was an accident or if it was an impatient driver being obnoxious. Think about it for a moment if you kill a human being then that's murder but if you purposely kill an animal that's an accident that no one does anything about it. When someone gets their permit or their license it should be a rule to know how to handle these situations. This way rule-breakers are taught a lesson and more people get to know this rule.
Sign this petition if you agree that Animals have the right to live a life in which they should not be afraid of humans.
