The DGCA has a regulation dating back to 90's. CPL is issued to a person who has passed physics and Maths in their high school. This regulation is same for conversion of foreign licenses. This regulation alongwith other regulations have impacted theindust

The Issue

Many aspiring pilots in India are let down after they discover their passion of flying when they reach college level and finally are let down by the ancient regulation of having Physics and Maths as school subjects. People have written emails, made phone calls & wrote letters asking then explanation on this regulation but these DGCA bureaucrats have kept mum on this issue. Every country in the west has scrapped this regulation years ago. A candidate should pass 10+2 Physics and Maths - this regulation crushes the dream of aspiring pilots, even if you are a pilot and want to convert your license you actually have to meet this requirement, no matter which country you do your schooling from. The aviation market in India is an emerging market, more pilots are welcome to join the industry. Indian aviation is crippling because of the regulations like this one. The DGCA has to make reforms in it's rigid, ancient and restrictive rules and regulations, By opening up the entry to aviation for aspiring pilots. They have blocked the entry level and restricted people from entering this industry, flying schools cannot welcome students from overseas or even local students because very less people have opted Science as their high school subjects. AOPA-India has been issuing petition to DGCA, it's doing it's best to bring reforms and address concern to DGCA. But DGCA is a very stubborn one. I need everyone to join hands in this cause, no matter which profession you belong to. Help the aspiring pilot who cant afford training in west and has to crush their dreams of becoming a Pilot.
