Hi, my name is Colleen.  I am trying to save my dog's life.  He allegedly bit someone. But that doesn't make him a bad dog that deserves to die.  There has to be a better way for us as a society to deal with a dog that bites than to label them as vicious,. and then kill them.

Let me start at the beginning; i.e.: I had given my dog Donkey to a friend Rocky who happens to live at a place where there is a lot of open space for a dog of Donkeys size.  Don't get me wrong, I love my dog, he's a quite unique and wonderful dog, but 2 out of the 3 of the other dogs I have kept trying to fight with him, so It was either have all the dogs in rotation of crates and yards three times a day, or he goes and lives with Rocky where he could be top dog.

Everything was fine until some jackass named WILL SMITH decided he wanted to take Donkey for a walk at 3 in the morning. (This is the story i was told anyways)  Rocky told Will No he could not take the dog.  Rocky goes to sleep and Will takes the dog anyways.  He then proceeds to go to the CVS in Highland on Baseline and Boulder and gets into it with the security guard of CVS.   Will is arguing with the guard and bends down, says something to the dog and unleashes the dog to attack the guard.  YEP. on purpose according to the guard.  Then this "friend" goes and takes off and leaves the dog behind to fend for himself. Left him.  Let him attack the guard then left him.  Needless to say, the guard was hurt, called the cops and the dog was arrested.  He is now sitting in the pound looking at a death sentence for something that is really not his fault.  He was only trying to defend his human.. His quarantine is up on the 5th of July, I am still working on the  $400 need to bail him out.  That is if the Chief Officer of the shelter does not declare him a dangerous dog.  The State and County code clearly states that a dog MAY NOT be deemed dangerous if he committed the bite while trying to protect his human, or was teased provoked or the person was acting threating or aggressive.  Will has told people and me that the guard was swinging his baton in a threatening manner when he was telling Will to leave.  Most dogs would take that as an aggressive act.  I would.  The poor security guard positively identified him as the dog that bit him.  Now we await the verdict on a dangerous dog charge and try to come up with the money to get him out on the 5th of July.  That will be the end of his quarantine.  When I went to go see him in the shelter, he looked like he was in shock.  His eyes were all dead looking and he didn't recognize me at first, then he got this oooohhhhhh I'm sorry.........look on his face!  (anyone that owns a dog will understand what I mean! )  Please help me by signing this petition to bring Donkey home!!  When released to my custody, I will make sure he never goes away from me again and stays safe with me.  I have enlisted the help of a professional dog trainer to assist me with any issues if they arise.
