When a person creates a group on DeviantArt, they may find that the group's name suddenly stops being applicable. 

Perhaps they have grown and matured, and want a new name for the group to reflect that. A group called "SuperDuperPaintersUnite" might become "PaintersUnite", for example.

Perhaps they made a mistake with the name and wish to change it.

Perhaps the purpose of the group has changed. A group called "PaintersUnite" might become "ArtistsUnite" when they start accepting art of different mediums.

In any case, it would be very beneficial if groups could change their names in the same way Core members can. I know many people who would want to change their group name and DeviantArt itself lists "I want to change the group name" as one of the most common reasons for closing a group and starting a new one.
