The growing menace of auto rickshaw drivers in Mumbai has become a trauma for citizens and visitors.

I have witnessed and experienced these atrocities as a Mumbaikar. A school going child missed the school bus once and no auto rickshaw was willing to drop the child to the school.The child remained stranded for over an hour till the father came to his rescue.

The other day there was a teenage boy and girl whose mother needed to be taken to the hospital,since the hospital was a short distance ride,no auto rickshaw was ready to go that way,in spite of the girl and boy requesting that it was an emergency.But the plea fell on deaf ears and not a single auto driver was willing to help.I witnessed the entire scenario as I was waiting for an auto rickshaw as well.This unacceptable attitude of rickshaw driver has become a pain in the neck.They are simply ruthless and choose to render service only to a destination of their choice.There have been countless instances where people have not only reached late to work but also missed schools,college lectures,exams,flights, and the list goes on.

Its about time to take some stringent initiative to curb this growing menace and make our Mumbai a  place of hassle free transportation.This is really the need of the hour. We mumbaikars are tolerant to flooding, encroachment, traffic issues due to illegal parking and many other issues that relates to civic bodies.
