Development of Recreational Facilities for Children and Teenagers in Palm Coast, Florida
Development of Recreational Facilities for Children and Teenagers in Palm Coast, Florida
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents of Palm Coast, Florida, respectfully submit this petition to request the development and expansion of recreational infrastructure for children and teenagers within our community. This request reflects the concerns of many local families and residents.
Palm Coast has experienced significant growth in recent years, with a notable increase in young families and school-age children. As homeowners and taxpayers in Flagler County, we consistently contribute through property taxes and support the local economy. However, the current level of recreational amenities available to children and teenagers does not adequately reflect or support this rapid growth.
At present, there is a clear lack of accessible and age-appropriate facilities for older children and teenagers. Existing parks are limited in number and are primarily designed for younger children. For example, Holland Park, one of the few available public recreational spaces, is frequently overcrowded and does not sufficiently meet the needs of older age groups.
As a result, families are often required to travel to neighboring cities in order to access basic recreational opportunities such as trampoline parks, sports facilities, and structured youth activity centers. This creates an unnecessary burden on residents and highlights a significant gap in local infrastructure.
We believe it is essential that the City of Palm Coast actively consider and address the needs of its growing population of families with children. Investment in youth-oriented recreational spaces is critical not only for improving quality of life, but also for supporting community development, promoting public health, and fostering long-term resident engagement.
We respectfully request that the City evaluate and prioritize the development of one or more of the following:
• A recreational park or activity zone designed specifically for children and teenagers
• Indoor and outdoor sports and activity complexes
• Community spaces that support both structured and unstructured youth activities
Additionally, we ask that future city planning efforts take into account the rapid expansion of residential housing, including new apartment complexes and developments, and ensure that adequate infrastructure for children and schools is developed in parallel with this growth.
Our community values safe, engaging, and accessible environments for children. We strongly believe that Palm Coast should provide opportunities that reflect the needs of all residents, including its younger population.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and respectfully request your consideration of this petition.

Sincerely,
Residents of Palm Coast, Florida
