The Issue

Presently, there is no hospice care in Selkirk and surrounding areas.  Terminally ill people (any age) whose care can not be managed in the home and their demise is not  imminent are sent to long term care facilities  (i.e., nursing homes). Down town Winnipeg is the closest  palliative care facility for  Interlake & Eastman Regions.  We are advocating to get this changed so that terminally ill people have access to a suitable and compassionate place with a palliative care approach that is in our region.
