Why this petition matters

Started by John Crookston

We request the Australian federal house of representatives and the Senate to amend SECT 140A of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act), amend the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act 1998, and repeal or amend any other legislation prohibiting the use of nuclear fusion and retain the prohibition on nuclear fission energy. We ask that the Australian federal house of representatives and the Senate initiate the international Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) milestones approach to start Australia down the path of setting up the regulatory framework needed for the nuclear fusion energy industry development in Australia

We also request the Queensland Government to Amend the nuclear prohibition ACT 2007, repeal or amend, any other legislation prohibiting the investment, commercialization, or manufacturing and development of a nuclear fusion energy industry for power generation in Queensland, and retain the prohibition on nuclear fission for power generation.
