.@Dev_Fadnavis: Protect Freedom Of Expression- No Charges Against Anyone For The AIB Roast #WeStandByAIBKnockout

The Issue

A comedy event has a police complaint filed against it for using vulgar language. This is an attack on our freedom of expression.

The All India Bakchod (AIB) is a group of comic artists who brought a comedy revolution in India.

In December, they hosted an event called AIB Roast in which specific individuals were subjected to jokes at their expense intended to amuse the event's wider audience.

Bollywood celebrities Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar and Arjun Kapoor were the main participants. The roast was organised with their permission and started with a warning of graphic language to its audiences.

However, Maharashtra's Minister of Cultural Affairs, Vinod Tawde and the President of Brahman Ekta Seva Sanstha, Akhilesh Tiwari are trying to get criminal charges against them for using ‘vulgar’ language.

We use a lot of this language in our daily lives. This issue is so ridiculous that if we were to go by the FIR claims, more than half the country should be sued for using abusive language! I am standing up against this moral policing. Please join me by signing my petition.

Akhilesh Tiwari has gone on to say that the roast was "extremely abusive and it is not only ruining the clean image of the Indian culture & women, but is also misleading today's youth”.

This is unacceptable! By cracking down on comic artist’s right to offend, and joke about each other, these individuals are trying to morally police AIB and all their fans. I want the charges against AIB and those involved be dropped, and their fundamental rights be protected.

India is a democracy and we must ensure that artists such as the All India Bakchod and those involved in the AIB Roast have the right to artistic freedom of expression.
