Detroit Public Schools (DPS) - Emergency Financial Manager Roy Roberts: KEEP MAYBURY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and SOUTHWESTERN HIGH SCHOOL OPEN

Southwest Detroit's young growing population can support & deserves to be educated at our unique bilingual Maybury Elementary School within Mexicantown, across the street from our vibrant Clark Park and where our children should be allowed to walk to their neighborhood school that is closest to their homes. Our Southwest Detroit's growing teenage population can also support two (2) high schools and this is one of many facts, why our Detroit's Southwestern High School must remain open to serve our high school age youth. DPS MUST KEEP MAYBURY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL and SOUTHWESTERN HIGH SCHOOL OPEN TO SERVE and CONTINUE TO PROVIDE A QUALITY EDUCATION FOR OUR YOUTH and NOT try to force our youth into school buildings farther away from their homes and that are already at full capacity!
