Jocelyn Flemons started this petition to Detroit City Council

Hello Bagley neighbors. Did you get a letter from the City of Detroit explaining how the Maps and Records Bureau is seeking approval from City Council to have all alleys in Bagley "converted to public utility easements" and how this will raise taxes for homes in Bagley? If not, please click here to see the original Nextdoor Post with images of the letter.

Please read the letter and share your opinions with both the Maps and Bureau Department and City Council prior to the council voting on this issue. As you will see in the letter City Council will decide if the alleys in Bagley should be vacated. If approved, property owners connected to the alleys will become the new owners and be responsible for maintenance of the alley. The square footage of the alley will be automatically added to your property size and cause your taxes to increase. Owners connected to paved alleys will have to pay even more taxes because of drainage cost.

If you are a Bagley owner/resident and you do not want the alleys vacated because of the impact it will have on your taxes sign this Petition. Bagley taxes have continuously increased over the last several years and this is another way for the City to raise our taxes again. Let's stop this. Please sign the petition.
