Confusion over PIO - OCI merger, and some encouraging information found.

However, just prior to this, all PIO card holders were given lifetime validity (see the article in the URL below) eliminating visa requirement for good! More confusion is on the way, as PIO card holders will realize about the confusion over the reissue requirement. However, I found this official website page on the Bureau of Immigration, Ministry of Home Affairs website, which brings a beam of hope for all OCI card holders (I highly recommend printing the web page at http://boi.gov.in/content/visa-requirement and bringing it with you when you travel to India! It reads: Overseas Citizen Of India (OCI) :- Passengers who are carrying old cancelled passports having Life Long Indian "U" Visa Sticker affixed on it along with new passport are allowed entry into India. Even if the OCI card holder acquires nationality of a different country, except that of Pakistan and Bangladesh, he/she is also allowed entry into India provided he/she is carrying his/her old passport having Life Long Indian "U" Visa sticker pasted on it along with the new passport of the recently acquired nationality.
