Recapping on highlights of past updates, and posting some new information

1. This rule has been in place since 2005 - so actually not a new one, as per the Consulate General of India New York and Toronto. So, this would sound like a good news (when you read update #2 below). 2. Evidently (as per the on-line forums that I have been researching), immigration officers at the international airports have NOT been implementing this rule for their purpose, so hopefully that is a good news. I also spoke with an actual immigration official at Mumbai international airport's arrival wing and he told me to just bring old passports (with U-visas), new passports and OCI cards for my minor children and myself. 3. Consulate General of India, Houston's website http://www.cgihouston.org/notice/display/126 reads that OCI registration card is required to be reissued when US passport is renewed before 21 years of age or after 50 years of age. Since the OCI registration cards issued prior to this year are NOT the actual visas (the actual visa being the U-visa sticker, which reads "Validity: Lifetime", on our US passports) I have sent an e-mail to Houston Consulate office to confirm that we are allowed to travel with old passport, new passport and original (not reissued) OCI card. 3. If we would not want to take a chance while traveling to India, we could get eTourist Visa (not more than 30 days before traveling) by means of a very simple, short and easy on-line application process at https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/tvoa.html (as per the website, the visa is e-mailed within four days from the time we complete on-line application with successful payment.) The cost is $60 per person (which is about the same amount that we would pay every time IF we would get our OCI card reissued.)
