Designate July as Veterans Month

Designate July as Veterans Month
The Issue
I often witness the struggles and underappreciation faced by veterans in our society. They are often homeless, ignored, and their sacrifices barely remembered. Many veterans are mentally struggling, or suffering from depression. This personal experience drives me to advocate for greater recognition and appreciation of our veterans.
We already have Veterans Day, but a single day doesn't suffice to honor the numerous contributions of those who have served our country. Therefore, I propose that we designate the entire month of July as Veterans Month. This would not only provide a platform for veterans to share their stories, experiences, and bravery but also allow their families to honor them, both those who are living and those who have passed.
July is an ideal month to honor our veterans as it already includes Independence Day on the 4th, a day when we celebrate the freedom and liberty that have been preserved by our brave service members. By making July Veterans Month, we can extend this appreciation and recognition throughout the month, encouraging communities to host events, share stories, and educate future generations about the sacrifices made by veterans.
The initiative aligns with other commemorative months that celebrate and honor specific groups, such as February’s Black History Month and March’s Women's History Month. Like these months, Veterans Month would serve as a constant reminder of the valor and dedication of those who have ensured America's freedoms and security.
Let us bring more awareness and attention to the plight of our veterans. By dedicating July to them, we show our gratitude and commitment to supporting those who have given so much for our nation. Please sign this petition to urge lawmakers and relevant authorities to recognize July as Veterans Month, ensuring that our veterans receive the honor and acknowledgment they truly deserve. Together, we can make this happen for all the courageous men and women who have served in the armed forces.
